there are a number of problems with modern organised religions. of note: they are largely based on hearsay (with varying degrees of recursion), including the basis for their holy texts; they have 'reinvented' themselves by cutting out or reforming relevant pieces because they are or were a product of their times, and as times and attitudes change if the religions do not change they fall out of relevance (see: child brides, slavery, homosexuality, social and class standards, etc); organised religion was arguably instituted in order to enforce social control, take tithes and taxes and ensure its own longevity (marriage, nuclear family, incentives and instructions to indoctrinate your children too); and we collectively have a habit of using gods and religion as a justification for causing division, hatred and suffering (the crusades, the spanish inquisition, homosexual 'conversion therapies', etc).
